The right moisture barrier depends on your flooring type. LVT, carpet, hardwood, tile, and epoxy each have different vapor control requirements. Specifier’s guide from IFTI.
Lightweight aggregate holds moisture longer than standard concrete. Discover why Calcium Chloride tests fail on lightweight slabs and how to test correctly.
Floor flatness requirements vary significantly across manufacturing operation types. FF/FL specifications by equipment class, process type, and manufacturing category.
For the GC in 2026, independent flooring testing is no longer a value-engineering target. It is the cheapest form of risk transfer on a project — and the only one that holds up when a floor fails three years post-handover.
The 2026 master spec for commercial flooring is one of the easier specification updates an architecture firm can make and one of the most consequential. Three changes to the boilerplate close the largest litigation exposures in commercial flooring projects.
The 2026 facility manager has inherited a flooring environment that tightened in three places at once: infection control, chemical resistance, and traceable test documentation. The floor that was compliant in 2022 is not necessarily the floor that passes today’s inspection.
AMRs and AGVs do not adapt to a floor; they fail on one. If your facility has automation on the roadmap or already on the dock, the floor is the asset that decides whether the automation pays back. This is the 2026 plant manager’s audit and retrofit guide.
The commercial flooring market in 2026 is not the market that planners budgeted for in 2024. Automation, accelerated timelines, and a regulatory shift toward independent verification have moved faster than spec language. This pillar maps the five trends — and what to update before the next project ships.
Robotic warehouses require stricter floor flatness than standard industrial slabs. Learn the specific F-min and FF/FL numbers needed for AMRs to prevent downtime.
Manufacturer-provided flooring inspectors have a structural conflict of interest. Why independent third-party inspection produces the only defensible results in failure disputes.
